CPA and Bookkeeping Houston AlternativeQuestions before you send a note
The short answers are here so you can decide whether a note is worth sending.
Send the open month
A month can still be open
Read a month can still be open
An open month is where the work begins, and it is not a reason to stay away. Say which month you last trusted and how many are behind it. A year of open months is a longer job than one slow month, and we will say which one you are looking at.
You do not need a software tour prepared. Bank activity and the last return are enough to start the conversation.
Who runs payday, and who prepares the return
Read who runs payday, and who prepares the return
You run payday on a full service provider. The practice sets that up with you and does not run the payroll itself. Closed months on this practice are what we use when we prepare the return. Those are different jobs and they belong in the same conversation so owner pay is not a surprise in March.
When a lender has already asked for a signed report, that report belongs with a firm allowed to sign it. Say that on the first call if it is already on your mind. The monthly records can still be put in order on this practice before a signer sees them.
Is this a loan, and what we will not promise
Read is this a loan, and what we will not promise
This is not a loan. Nothing here promises a refund or a result on your return. The work is the books, the payroll setup, the statements, and the return, plus a straight answer when the honest one is that you do not need an engagement yet.
Owners on the Northside already know Shipley's as a morning stop. The books are the same kind of ordinary. They are due whether the morning was easy. If the list on this page missed the thing you wanted to ask, send that question in the words you would use on the phone.
Where the limits are written
Read Where the limits are written
The limit on signed reports is on the disclosures page, said once and in full. Read that before you assume a cover can be signed here. The rest of this site is about the work that is done here.
If your question uses a form's nickname, you can still ask it in ordinary words. Say what the form is trying to do. We will tell you whether this practice prepares it, whether you file it from the closed months, or whether a signature has to come from somewhere else. You will not be quizzed for the wrong noun.
Does size decide who you call
Read Does size decide who you call
A smaller company can need a careful monthly close more than a larger one that already has a signer. A larger company can still want one person on the books while a firm signs the cover. Revenue is a fact we will ask for, because it changes the work, though it is not a trophy or a barrier written on this site.
If someone sold you help by telling you that you had outgrown a person, ask what you had outgrown. A signed cover is a real reason. A nicer lobby is not.
Questions that sort the shape
Read Questions that sort the shape
Who closes the month. Who talks about the return. Who is there in July. Whether payday is set up or run for you. Whether a cover will be signed here. Those five questions sort the shapes faster than a page of adjectives.
A long lunch will not answer them, though a break is still a good idea. Write the five down and see which of your current help can answer without a pause.
If you are between shapes
Read If you are between shapes
You can keep a signer for the cover and move the monthly work. You can leave a small shop that goes quiet without insulting the people who helped you get this far. The note can say you are between shapes. That is a normal place to be.
The longer comparison is three ways people shop. The useful questions are about who answers and what is included, not about how large you look.
Bring one story of a question that stalled. Who you asked, how long it took, and whether the person had seen the books. That story is more useful than a description of your industry. A company that looks large and a company that looks small can have the same stall, which is why these answers will not sort you by size. Sort the help by the stall, then decide if you are buying that stall again. One stalled question is the whole example you need. Write the five answers in the note, even if four of them are still blank. A blank is a useful answer, because it shows the shape you actually have. Who closes, who does the return, who answers in July, who runs payday, and who signs. Say which of those five your current help cannot answer.
Five questions that sort the shape
Read Five questions that sort the shape
Size is a fact. The shape of the help is the decision, and five questions sort it.
Who closes the month. Who can talk about the return in the same conversation. Who picks up in July. Whether payday is set up with you or run for you. Whether a cover that needs a signature will be signed here. Those five are the whole sort.
A convention week does not change the five. The city gets loud, the hotels fill, and the month still has to tie to the bank. Write the answers you have, and leave a blank where you do not have one.
Why revenue is not the sort

Two companies with the same sales can need different help. One is a month behind with one bank account. The other has several accounts and a year still open. A page of prices treats them as the same buyer. They are not.
A Saturday at a game does not tell you who closes March. Ask the five questions of the help you have now. A blank answer is information.
What you can mix
Read what you can mix
You can keep a signer for the cover and move the monthly books. You can leave a shop that goes quiet in July without a speech about loyalty. The note can say you are between shapes. Sitting between two shapes is an ordinary week on this practice, and we treat it as information rather than a problem.
The longer walk through the three shapes sits on three ways people shop. A missing answer shows the shape you have, which is the useful part. If four of the five are still blank, send the blanks. We would rather see the hole than a polished guess. Write who closes, who does the return, who answers in July, who runs payday, and who signs, and name the blanks too.
On this page the five answers stay with the month you already trust, and a blank in July is still a blank we can read before anyone quotes a cleanup.
Name the month that is stuck
Write the last month you trusted, say whether payday already runs on a provider, and say what you want finished before the return is prepared.
You will be talking to the Steven Palmieri practice.
