CPA and Bookkeeping Houston AlternativeBooks and the return together

The books and the return are one story, and they stay clearer when one practice holds both.

A bookkeeper who never sees the return will code something in a way the return cannot use. A preparer who never saw the months will ask you to explain a year you already explained. You become the messenger. The messenger job is the hidden bill again, wearing a different coat.

Keeping both in one practice means a question in June can change what December looks like. That is the reason to do this during the year instead of in a panic after it.

What you still own

Read what you still own

You still own the decisions. We will show you the choice and the timing. We will not make the choice for you and call it a service. The statements are there so you can see the choice yourself.

Hurricane season, from June through November, is a long stretch of the year when a shop in Houston may close for a week and then reopen. The books for those weeks still join the return. One practice should already know about the closure because it was in the monthly work, not because you remembered it in February.

How the handoff to a signer works

Read how the handoff to a signer works

If a cover must be signed, that cover leaves this practice. The books and the return can be handed over in a state a signer can read. You should not have to rebuild the year for that handoff. Say early if a signer is already in the picture.

Start with what the return needs or with the monthly close. They meet in the same place.

Find one number that should appear in both the books and the prior return, such as owner pay or a large deposit. If they tell two stories, you have already been the messenger. Putting both jobs in one practice ends that errand. You still decide what the number should be. You stop explaining it twice to two people who do not talk to each other. Owner pay is usually the clearest number to compare first. Bring both numbers to the call so the comparison is about a fact.
